Electrical Testing & Commissioning Engineer

  • Electrical Testing & Commissioning Engineer – Primary & Secondary

Location: Melbourne, Australia

Seeking expressions of interest in the following Role

We are currently seeking motivated and qualified trades personnel with good communication and interpersonal skills, for work on Major Projects within the infrastructure, mining and energy sectors in the following occupation:

  • Electrical Testing & Commissioning Engineer – Primary & Secondary

This role includes the following activities:

  • Field based role on various projects throughout Victoria including several major infrastructure projects
  • Utilise and continuously improve c2o Group technical completion management system and QA/QC database
  • Protection relay programming and setting change for various types of protection relays
  • Onsite protection relay testing and commissioning including primary and secondary injection testing utilising Omicron test equipment
  • Primary injection testing of Current transformers and Voltage Transformers
  • Knowledge of various types of High Voltage switchgear testing and functional operation
  • Knowledge of High Voltage cable testing with the use of VLF and IR test equipment
  • Testing of earthing systems including step/touch, EPR and soil resistivity tests
  • Preparation of commissioning reports

Preferred candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering
  • High standards of safety, quality and professionalism
  • High proficiency in the use of Omicron test equipment and software
  • White Card
  • Full driver’s license
  • Experience with:
    • Programming and testing a wide range of Protection Relays
    • The use of Omicron testing equipment
    • Primary and Secondary injection testing
    • High Voltage switchboard testing and commissioning
    • Transformer testing and commissioning
    • Circuit Breaker, Current Transformer, Voltage Transformer and Busbar testing
  • An understanding of schematic drawings and electrical protection schemes
  • High proficiency with the Microsoft suite to produce ITP reports
  • Knowledge of applicable Australian and International Standards and Codes of Practice
  • Right to work in Australia

Desired but not essential:

  • Current Electrical Licence
  • HV switching qualification
  • Electrical Supply Industry (ESI) Authorisation and experience
  • Advanced Diploma in ESI Power Systems – UET60212
  • GIS Switchgear experience and OEM training
  • Electrified Rail experience highly regarded
