Lead by example while demonstrating a personal commitment to Health, Safety and the Environment by ensuring personal safety and as far as is reasonably practical that of others through participating in regularly scheduled safety meetings, site safety visits and safety conversations.
• Execute daily activities within the Control of Work process which may include generating of work permits, performing energy isolations and attend permit review meetings as required.
• Perform pre-commissioning or static commissioning checks as per the required documentation such as Inspection Test Reports (ITR’s).
• Testing of Electrical Switchgear components (i.e. CT’s, VT’s, relays, etc.)
• Energize 120VAC distribution panelboards.
• Electrical motor control testing of Motor Control Center’s (MCC’s).
• Perform uncoupled electric motor runs.
• Setup and Energization of Heat Trace systems.
• Setup, Energization and testing of UPS systems
• Energization and testing of Lighting circuits and other small power (120VAC) equipment.
• Support multi-discipline dynamic commissioning activities that validates engineering design and construction / installation of plant equipment as directed by the lead commissioning coordinator / engineer.
• Perform sub-system and system walkdowns for acceptance and submit any documentation to the Completions team for handover purposes.
• Provide start-up support to the Operations team as required.
• Need proficiency in MS Office Applications.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Formal technical college training and education in Electrical Technology or formal apprenticeship programs.
• NCCER certified in Electrical Technology
• 5+ years of Pre-Commissioning & Commissioning experience in a similar role.
• Experience working with multi-discipline teams.
• Highly experienced with various types and manufacturers of calibration equipment.
• Candidate should be a motivated self-starter with complex problem-solving ability.
• Excellent communication skills and team-oriented personality required to interface with Construction and Operations Teams.
• A detailed working knowledge of industrial facilities is required.
Job Position – Electrical Commissioning Technician
• Ability to work varying shifts and hours including: possible mandatory overtime, weekends, nights and holidays
• Working knowledge of using hand and power tools
• Ability to work respectively with others and work independently
• Ability to complete designated amount of work in a specified time frame (quality jobs per day), adjusting work assignments or schedules to meet changing work-related priorities or demands
• Ability to climb and work at elevations from (ladders, poles, lift trucks) exceeding 18 feet
• Ability to work in restricted spaces
• Ability to perform strenuous physical activities including, but not limited to: lifting objects weighing over 75 pounds
• Ability to perform job activities outdoors in different weather conditions (extreme cold and/or heat, inclement weather)
• Must have reliable transportation
